Julie, missionary in Indonesia

My story

I am from Lyngdal and grew up in a Christian family and in the church Filadelfiakirken Lyngdal. I went to KVS upper secondary school, and at the same time started the business Rejoice Always at 16–17 to spread the faith more easily.

I felt God call me to put the business on pause, and he led me to the Bible school Gå Ut Senteret. There I took the Global track, with 4.5 months of practical training in Bali. The plan was to study business in Oslo afterwards, but suddenly I felt God calling me back into mission.

After several confirming words I left everything and went back to Indonesia. Here I have helped at the church C3 the Bukit, at the children's home Bali Life Foundation and at Permata Bali, Jewel Children's Home. I have learned the language, made friends with locals and taught English, maths, piano, web design and baking.

Everyday life

It is incredibly rewarding to see how God works in everyday life. So many doors have opened, and conversations and opportunities have led people to hear the good news and receive Jesus. I dream that even more will hear, be discipled, receive new fire and good follow-up, and that the children at the children's homes will have a safe upbringing.

I strongly feel God wants me here for a longer period. That is why I am learning the language fluently and expect to stay for a number of years, as long as I feel he wants me here. I have many dreams and plans for both Bali and Rote, and believe this is only the beginning of something big.
